Michael

Michael Krupa, Ed.D. 

CEO and Founder

Michael is the Founder and CEO of TaraVista Behavioral Health and Health Partners New England, a psychiatric and addiction medicine consultation and management firm. Dr. Krupa is a licensed Psychologist who has held CEO, COO and department leadership positions for both not-for-profit and for-profit health care institutions for over 30 years. Dr. Krupa has consulted to and managed psychiatric services in over 60 hospitals and organizations including as CEO of a 220 inpatient bed, multi-campus psychiatric hospital system.

Dr. Krupa has extensive experience with reimbursement and financial metrics, regulatory compliance, and with all aspects of inpatient and ambulatory operations within psychiatry and addictions. Dr. Krupa earned his doctoral degree from Harvard University and held an appointment at Harvard Medical School as a clinical supervisor of psychology and psychiatry trainees for ten years.

Dr. Krupa serves on the Board of the Brattleboro Retreat, Concord Prison Outreach, Amesbury Psychological Associates, Adoptions with Love, and The Boston Institute for Psychotherapy.

Laurie

Laurie Izzo, RN BSN MHA 

Chief Nursing Officer

Laurie is the Chief Nursing Officer at TaraVista. She has an accomplished career in nursing leadership in inpatient psychiatric care.  Laurie has served on the leadership team at both Tenet Healthcare and Emerson Hospital.  She provides leadership to the nursing team at TaraVista, creating and managing patient care delivery models that ensure positive clinical outcomes for our patients and their families.

She is a valuable member of the TaraVista executive team, creating interdisciplinary partnerships and managing costs across units.  In addition, Laurie coordinates professional development opportunities for our nurses, ensuring quality performance outcomes and equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to respond to each patient’s unique needs.  Laurie received her Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Simmons College and her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Regis College.

Carl_Fulwiler

Carl Fulwiler 

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Fulwiler is double boarded in Adult Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. He has held several leadership positions including Director of the Clinical Neuroscience Service  and Founding Director of the Integration Program for Tufts Medical School at Shattuck Hospital, and Director of the Systems and Psychosocial Advances Research Center in the Department of Psychiatry at UMass Medical School, Director of Clinician Wellness Programs for UMass Memorial Medical Center and Medical Director of the Center for Mindfulness at UMass Medical School. Throughout Dr. Fulwiler’s career he has received numerous awards including awards for Outstanding Service to Homeless by the Massachusetts Department of Mental health, Excellence in Teaching Psychiatry from Tufts University School of Medicine and the Steven Banks Award for Research Mentoring from the UMass Medical School Department of Psychiatry.

Matt_Moen

Matt Moen, PharmD, RPh 

Director of Support Services

Matt is the Director of Support Services and also serves as Director of Pharmacy for TaraVista Behavioral Health Center.  In his career as a pharmacist, Matt has worked in a variety of clinical and administrative roles within a diverse array of settings. In addition to the pharmacy, Matt oversees lab services, food & nutrition, facilities management, environmental services, and security at TaraVista.  Matt works closely with his staff to ensure that all of the necessary resources are available to deliver high-quality care to our patients in a healthy, pleasant environment.

Val

Valerie Eagles 

Director of Finance and Administration

Valerie has been in healthcare finance for 23 years ranging from non-profit to for-profit, and small local settings to an international medical provider/device manufacturing company. Her experience includes healthcare specialty in a regional public accounting firm, dialysis company, home nursing provider, physician group practice, general hospitals, and a psychiatric hospital. Daily responsibilities include accounting, annual audits, cost reports, financial reporting, budgeting, financial forecasting, cash and investment modeling, accounts payable, payroll, financial system conversions and upgrades.

Christine Brazauskas, MBA, BS, RN 

Director of Quality, Risk & Compliance

Christine is the Director of Quality, Risk, Compliance, and Health Information Management. In this role, Christine is dedicated to assuring a positive patient experience and works with all departments to improve quality, safety, and services to TaraVista patients and families. She ensures that care is delivered in accordance with TaraVista’s policies, state regulations, and industry-leading best practices.

Along with a robust nursing career, Christine has served on the senior leadership team of several regional medical centers across Massachusetts, including UMass Memorial Medical Center, UMass Medical School, and Metro West Medical Center. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Anna Maria College, a Bachelors in Education from Worcester State University and a Diploma in Nursing from The Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She is currently working on her Six Sigma Black Belt. Christine is dedicated to the values of patient safety and quality improvement.

Ingrid_Sarmiento

Ingrid Sarmiento 

Clinical Director, Young Adult Unit

Ingrid is the Clinical Director of the Young Adult Unit at Tara Vista. She comes to TaraVista with extensive experience working with young adults with acute mental health issues including PTSD, suicidality, mood and personality disorders. Her prior experience at Suffolk University’s Counseling Center and McLean Hospital’s Hill Center for Women informs her commitment to addressing the mental health issues of Young Adults. At TaraVista, she is committed to designing and implementing innovative programming for children, adolescents, and young adults. She works closely with staff to assure the delivery of patient-centered trauma-informed work. Her experience with Dialectical Behavior therapy (DBT) has allowed her to contribute to staff development and training. Ingrid graduated from Clark University with her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and completed her postdoctoral training at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School.

Susan

Susan Coughlin 

Director, Human Resources

Susan is the Director of Human Resources at TaraVista. For 16 years prior, she had been the Practice Manager with Health Partners New England, a mental health management and consulting company. Susan was also an integral part of the planning and design of TaraVista, involved in all aspects of the new facility from inception. Prior to joining HPNE, Susan had been part of the Child Protection Team at Children’s Hospital and as the Discharge Coordinator at an inpatient child psychiatric unit where she worked on quality improvement programs.

Tom

Tom Feight, MS LSW 

Human Rights Officer

Tom is the Human Rights Officer at TaraVista. He has worked in inpatient mental health for more than 29 years. Tom is responsible for Information Systems and manages the electronic health record system. In addition, Tom works closely with Nursing Education to provide training for all staff in Crisis Prevention.  As the Human Rights Officer, Tom assists, advocates, and educates patients, family, and staff on their rights and the responsibilities as patients at TaraVista Behavioral Health Center.
