On June 17th, TaraVista Behavioral Health Center is thrilled to sponsor the North Central Massachusetts community premiere of Shattered Ice at Mount Wachusett Community College.

Created by Needham native Jake Miskin, this award-winning film uses the world of youth sports to spark conversations around youth mental health and suicide awareness. While the story centers around hockey, the message extends far beyond the rink, resonating with teens, young adults, parents, educators, coaches, healthcare professionals, and community members.

The film has already been shown to audiences in Worcester and MetroWest and has been praised for its ability to open the door to meaningful conversations that too often don’t happen. It helps families, schools, and communities talk about mental health in a way that is honest, relatable, and hopeful.

Why It Matters

One thing we know can support mental health and help prevent crisis is connection. Another is communication. Shattered Ice helps create both.

By bringing people together through a shared experience, the film creates opportunities for honest conversations among teens, parents, educators, coaches, and community members. It reminds us that no one should have to navigate life’s challenges alone.

Who Should Attend?

  • Parents and caregivers
  • Teens and young adults
  • Educators, school counselors, and coaches
