Child Unit
Child Unit
At TaraVista, we understand the unique behavioral, emotional, developmental, and psychiatric needs of children and adolescents, including those with autism spectrum disorders and behavioral issues related to trauma and loss. Dedicated to serving individuals ages 5 to 12, our Child Unit includes diagnostic and evaluation services in addition to comprehensive treatment and strategic, client-centered discharge planning. Evidenced-based treatment plans are tailored to the individual needs of each child, and our multidisciplinary treatment teams include physicians, APRN’s, social workers, counselors, teachers, child life specialists, and occupational therapists with specialized experience in children’s psychiatric issues.
Our beautiful space for children is designed to thoughtfully accommodate the developmental differences between young patients, which vary greatly based on age and gender, with the utmost attention to therapeutically appropriate cohorts. We strive to appreciate the needs of each child in the context of diagnosis, functional considerations, and individual development.
Programming
We understand that successful treatment strategies for children are holistic and engage the child’s family members, guardians, community agencies, and other supports in a collaborative effort. In addition to the child’s evidenced-based psychiatric treatment plan provided by our mental health professionals, our programs include education coordinated with the child’s school system and delivered by staff teachers or through a partnership organization. Our discharge planning is comprehensive and strategic, so that our patients have a smooth transition and are set up for success as they continue their recovery when they return home.
