Caring at Every Step
Patient’s arrive for admission to TaraVista after being evaluated and referred by a hospital emergency room or community-based psychiatric crisis team. We maintain great relationships with our referring providers and our admissions team will start coordinating a patient’s care from the first phone call.
The admission process is the first step in the patient’s treatment plan. The team’s objective is to get know the patient, understand their presenting symptoms and develop the initial treatment goal.
Our admission team is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of behavioral health providers including nurses, mental health counselors and medical providers. The team will meet the patient upon arrival, stay with the patient during every step of the admission process and orient the patient to their unit of care.
Frequently Asked Questions
Patients of all ages arrive to our admissions department after being assessed by a community based psychiatric team and/or hospital emergency room. Family members typically do not accompany patients due to the confidential setting of the intake process. Our admissions team will be in contact with family members with prior consent from the patient during the process.
The admission process is an evaluation process that sets the patient up for a successful stay. The process is initiated prior to the patient's arrival with the coordination of care between our admissions staff and the referring agency. When the patient arrives, many of the pieces are already in place.
The time it takes varies on many factors, however, our admissions team remains with the patient every step of the process.
Patients should bring their insurance card. One week of clothing and personal care items. Since patients arrive from an emergency room or other healthcare providers, belonging can also be brought later by a family member. Cell phones are allowed for a predetermined time each day established by the unit and dependent on age and individual patient circumstances.
The process is very similar for our child and adolescents patients. Parents and/or guardians will be responsible for signing releases and the admissions staff will be in ongoing contact with parents or guardians throughout the process. Depending on time of the admission, visitation can occur on the same day of admission or the next day. Review our visiting policies here.
