Every Mind Matters —Especially Yours
May is Mental Health Awareness Month

By TaraVista Behavioral Health Center

At TaraVista, we believe mental health deserves attention every day—but during May, we take extra care to highlight the importance of raising awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging connection. The theme we’re embracing this year is simple but powerful: Every Mind Matters—Especially Yours.

Mental health struggles don’t always look the same. Behind every statistic is a real person—navigating challenges, seeking connection, and hoping for healing. This month is an invitation to have open conversations, share helpful resources, and break the silence surrounding mental illness.

Let’s End the Silence

Suicide remains the second leading cause of death for youth aged 10–14 and adults aged 25–34 in the United States. These numbers reflect more than just data—they point to a deeper need for connection, compassion, and accessible care.

At TaraVista, we provide inpatient psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults in times of crisis. Whether someone is facing suicidal thoughts, deep sadness, or overwhelming stress, we are here to help stabilize, support, and create a path forward.

Talking about mental health can save lives. Let’s not shy away from the hard conversations this month—or any month.

Supporting Resilience in Youth

Today’s youth face an unprecedented wave of emotional and mental health challenges. In fact, 60% of teens report experiencing persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness.

Our inpatient adolescent unit, serving ages 13–17, is designed to help young people build resilience through therapeutic connection, peer support, and individualized care. We believe in second chancessoft landings, and safe spaces—because healing begins when youth feel seen, supported, and safe.

If you’re a school counselor, physician, or caregiver concerned about a young person’s wellbeing, we’re here.

Anxiety Often Wears a Mask

Over 40 million adults in the U.S. live with anxiety disorders each year. But many go undiagnosed or untreated because anxiety doesn’t always look like panic attacks.

Sometimes anxiety shows up as:

  • 😰 Perfectionism
  • 😴 Exhaustion
  • 🚫 Avoidance or withdrawal

Early intervention is one of the most effective tools we have. That’s why we encourage you to check in with yourself and those around you. Talk to a friend, reach out to your doctor, or speak with a mental health professional. Don’t wait for symptoms to escalate—taking action early makes all the difference.

Mental Health is Health

Mental Health Awareness Month is more than a campaign—it’s a call to care, for ourselves and for others. This month—and always—our message is simple, but essential:

💚 Every mind matters. Including yours.

If you or someone you love needs help, please don’t hesitate. Reach out. Speak up. Take the next step. Talking about mental health matters. It saves lives. TaraVista is here to help when you need it the most.
